Many traders focus on market analysis but overlook a few key order settings—which can lead to bigger losses than expected. Make sure to double-check these three settings before placing any order.
Setting 1: Isolated margin vs. cross margin
Isolated margin (recommended for beginners)
- Each position uses its own margin
- Maximum loss is limited to the margin used
- Liquidation only affects that position, not the rest of your futures orders
Cross margin
- All funds in your futures account are used to cover losses
- One liquidation can put your entire futures account balance at risk
- Better suited for experienced traders with active risk management skills
Setting 2: Set TP and SL when opening a position
WEEX lets you set take-profit and stop-loss prices directly when placing an order, so your risk protection is in place from the start.
1. Find the "TP/SL" section on the order panel.
2. Enter your take-profit price.
3. Enter your stop-loss price.
4. Place your order with TP and SL.
⚠️ Many traders plan to "set it later", but the market can move too fast. Before they react, heavy losses or even liquidation may already happen. Building the habit of setting TP/SL when opening a position can help reduce unnecessary risk.

Setting 3: Check your leverage
Your previous leverage setting for each trading pair will be saved. If you don't adjust it manually, your next order will use the same leverage by default. For example, if you previously used 20× leverage and forget to switch it back to 5× before placing a new order, your liquidation price may end up much closer than expected.
ℹ️ Before every trade, take a quick look at your leverage. It's one of the simplest and most important risk-control habits.
