AI Agents May Threaten Blockchain Infrastructure
Transferring control of cryptocurrency wallets to AI agents can lead to serious problems. Currently, blockchain networks may not be prepared for the increasing presence of AI agents in the market. AI agents, operating based on LLM language models, can perform various tasks, including managing finances. In the case of cryptocurrencies, agents can utilize digital wallets, allowing them to make automatic payments without the need for human authorization. The x402 project created by Coinbase has already processed 75 million transactions with a total value of 24 million dollars, with an average payment of 0.32 dollars. The problem arises when AI agents start executing multiple micropayments simultaneously, which can overload existing blockchain infrastructures. The increase in small transactions may force blockchain networks to implement significant changes to handle hundreds of millions of payments daily without high fees and delays.

Global markets on September 29 focused on the 10-year yield breaking above 5% and Anthropic’s IPO filing. On September 28, all three major equity indexes closed lower, with semiconductors and optical communications among the sectors that retreated. Anthropic’s filing showed high growth alongside large losses and $518 billion in cloud commitments. Its tokenized share traded near $2,002, down about 2% in 24 hours. Spot gold approached a two-month low near $4,118, while Bitcoin traded near $83,500.
