Artificial Intelligence Hardware Reduces Ethereum Node Costs
Powerful computer hardware for local artificial intelligence applications has reduced the costs of nodes on the Ethereum network. This development could increase the number of users capable of performing independent validations. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced that the Geth node occupies 461 GiB of space after pruning. Geth is one of the most commonly used clients on the Ethereum network. Artificial intelligence systems have also become suitable for blockchain validation. Software improvements on Ethereum, thanks to the EIP 4444 standard and snap sync optimizations, have reduced the full node synchronization time to about 12 hours, while the disk requirement has dropped below 0.5 TB. This change allows personal computers to transform into independent processing and validation units. AI systems set up with graphics cards like the NVIDIA RTX 5090 do not require additional hardware investment to run an Ethereum node. With the Glamsterdam update, synchronization times are expected to accelerate further. This situation enables home users to utilize both computing and validation capacity together.
