Bitcoin Developers Concerned About Mining Subsidy
Bitcoin developers express concern over the decreasing mining subsidy, which could make it cheaper to attack the network than to protect it in the future. During the Bitcoin 26 conference in April 2026, a former member of Marathon Digital commented that Bitcoin's security model might not be as robust as previously thought. He estimated that this threshold would be reached in about 8 years, that is, in 2 more halvings. Despite discussions about possible solutions such as combined mining and higher fees, no satisfactory answer to the problem was found. This issue, although critical, receives little attention within the community.
