Dave Weisberger Discusses Bitcoin FOMO and Collateral Treatment
Dave Weisberger, co-founder of CoinRoutes, states that Bitcoin's most significant unlock is its collateral treatment, not an ETF or treasury company. He highlights that banks currently face a nearly 100% haircut on Bitcoin, and once it is treated like other assets based on volatility and liquidity, it will transform lending dynamics and impact companies like Strategy Inc. Weisberger refers to this change as the 'final boss,' noting that the Basel committee and rulemakers have acknowledged its inevitability, although it has yet to occur. In a discussion with Grace Remington and Sean Hagan, he also addresses topics such as tokenization, Hyperliquid, and the Federal Reserve. Key points include the tokenization of assets, the concept of a global liquidity pool involving Bitcoin, gold, and equities, and the implications of perpetual swaps and segregated accounts. Weisberger explains how ETF investments have contributed to lowering Bitcoin's volatility and discusses the potential for Bitcoin as an asymmetric option and the pristine collateral issue.
