Engineer Complains About AI Code Production Out of Control, Working 13 Hours a Day Just to Hit Enter
An engineer from a large company posted on X, stating that almost all engineering work in the team is done by Claude Code, including specification documents, code, testing, PRD, work orders, and problem-solving solutions. Management believes that "pushing code is not a bottleneck" and continuously demands the team to increase delivery speed. Employees work 12 to 13 hours a day, but are merely "hitting enter" repeatedly. The engineer mentioned that almost no team members have time to read the generated code or truly solve bugs, with both junior and senior engineers repeating the process of conversing with AI and submitting code, stating that "no one is thinking anymore." He does not oppose using AI for programming but believes time should be allocated to check the code and understand the system, while the current goal of the team is just to go live as quickly as possible, "no matter what happens." The post was widely shared and sparked heated discussions, garnering over 2.42 million views and 22,000 likes on X.
