FBI holds annual crypto crime symposium for nine years

The FBI has hosted a conference on cryptocurrency-related crime for nine years. The symposium gathers law enforcement officers, international investigators, and crypto security experts to share information on crypto crime. This year's event took place in Texas in September. Attendees included representatives from blockchain forensics firms like Chainalysis and TRM Labs, as well as officials from the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Discussions covered the illicit use of cryptocurrency by cartels and for terrorist financing, cyber fraud, child sexual abuse material, human trafficking, and wrench attacks. Participants reviewed new hacking methods, North Korean activities, and strategies for information sharing between the industry and law enforcement.
