Fires in Skarżysko-Kamienna and Lublin are not a coincidence. Government confirms sabotage

In the case of the fire in Skarżysko-Kamienna, there is no doubt that it was a deliberate arson, an act of sabotage, said Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Wednesday. He added that regarding the fire in Lublin, there is no such evidence, but due to the nature of the production, it cannot be ruled out.

Before Wednesday's government meeting, the Prime Minister addressed the issue of two fires that occurred in recent days: at the WB Group facility producing unmanned systems in Skarżysko-Kamienna and at the production and warehouse hall of JFG Composites in Lublin, which produces components for building flying objects.

In the case of Lublin, we do not have such evidence, but it cannot be ruled out, considering the nature of the production, that there was also deliberate arson there, the head of government emphasized.

He stressed that the coming weeks and months will be critical not only in relation to the entire Russian-Ukrainian war but will also pose a significant challenge for all countries in this part of Europe due to Russian plans to increase tensions and destabilization.

Arson of the drone factory in Skarżysko-Kamienna triggered an anti-Ukrainian narrative

The arson of the drone factory in Skarżysko-Kamienna has triggered a wave of anti-Ukrainian narratives. Internet users linked this incident without evidence to the severing of a power line by a helicopter in Tarnobrzeg and an alarm at a military base in Elbląg. Authorities have not confirmed any connections between these events.

The fire at WB Electronics SA, which occurred on Monday just after midnight, sparked a wave of posts and comments on the social media platform X suggesting that it was a deliberate action by the Ukrainian side, despite clues indicating Russian diversion. Those promoting the anti-Ukrainian narrative unfoundedly claimed that the alleged arson of the factory by Ukrainians could have aimed to draw Poland into a war with Russia. Furthermore, the incident was used to attack domestic migration policy, attempting to link the influx of migrants from Ukraine to a threat to the security of arms factories.

In reality, the Małopolska branch of the National Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation on Monday regarding the activities of foreign intelligence and terrorist offenses related to the fire at the Skarżysko-Kamienna facilities.

On Tuesday, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Czesław Mroczek, reported that the factory monitoring at WB Electronics SA recorded a masked perpetrator. When asked if this could suggest some Eastern, Russian trace, he stated that "it obviously suggests itself." "We have been dealing with acts of diversion and sabotage for several years, not only in our country but throughout Europe, essentially in the countries that support Ukraine, aimed at stopping these societies and states from supporting Ukraine," Mroczek pointed out.

He also recalled that earlier we had incidents in Poland inspired by Russia or carried out on Russian orders.

The spokesperson for the coordinator of special services, Jacek Dobrzyński, warned on his X channel on Monday about disinformation that may appear online on this topic. He emphasized that the services are working to clarify the matter and "due to the specificity and secret nature (of their work - PAP), at this stage, they do not inform about the details."

Despite the lack of reliable evidence, internet users linked the fire in Skarżysko-Kamienna to two other incidents that also occurred on Monday. One of them was a false bomb alarm at a military unit in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. According to false narratives, Ukrainians were supposed to be responsible for this incident. On the same day, the spokesperson for the commander of the Military Gendarmerie, Lieutenant Colonel Dariusz Rozkosz, reported the detention of two Polish citizens suspected of causing a false alarm.

The second incident was the severing of power lines by a light civilian helicopter near the Siarkopol chemical plant in Tarnobrzeg in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. Unverified speculations emerged online that the incident was part of a "coordinated attack by foreign services on Poland." This false narrative exploited the fact that the pilot fled the scene and was being sought by the authorities. On Wednesday, RMF reported that the helicopter pilot is a 56-year-old resident of Tarnów County who voluntarily reported to the police.

Authorities have not confirmed any connections between these three incidents.
