Is it true? The company famous for Dogecoin has secured an 80 billion yen contract with AI!? Is this a game changer?
CleanCore Solutions has signed a 10-year colocation contract (a contract to provide a location for servers) with Cerebras Systems for a whopping $800 million (approximately 110 billion yen). This isn't just a small to medium-sized enterprise entering the AI infrastructure space. The company, known in the cryptocurrency world for holding a large amount of Dogecoin (DOGE), has made a significant pivot towards a large-scale corporate transformation.
According to official information, CleanCore has committed $40 million (approximately 5.5 billion yen) as initial funding, with the possibility of investing up to $500 million (approximately 69 billion yen) in the entire project. This contract is not about new cryptocurrency-related initiatives; it is entirely focused on the AI data center infrastructure business. CleanCore has stated that under CEO Tyler Hassen, it is completely shifting away from its previous strategy of holding Dogecoin as a company treasury.
Therefore, how we interpret this news is extremely important. Unless the company explicitly states otherwise, this is not a story about "Dogecoin funding AI development." Rather, it suggests that the previous experiment of incorporating a somewhat unusual cryptocurrency into its corporate assets during the last cryptocurrency boom has now evolved into a broader strategy for publicly listed companies.
CleanCore's AI contract indicates that the company is not just about the balance sheet of Dogecoin; it aims to become a larger entity. While it doesn't mean they will completely divest from Dogecoin, it is certain that their focus will shift to different business areas. AI infrastructure, particularly around computational processing demand, data centers, power supply, chips, and alternatives to cloud services, is currently one of the most prominent themes in the stock market. With the contract with Cerebras, CleanCore has jumped right into the heart of this AI narrative.
