Japan’s FSA to Expand On-Chain Finance Adoption
Japan’s Financial Services Agency is advancing the application of on-chain finance to real-world financial services and infrastructure. In its fiscal 2026 financial administration policy, the agency will review technical, regulatory, and supervisory issues through public-private pilot programs and consultations, while ensuring user protection and financial system stability. To support this initiative, it plans to establish an on-chain finance forum aligned with the AI era to discuss the introduction of on-chain finance. Additionally, the agency aims to promote on-chain payment methods and integrate them with existing financial infrastructure, while also reviewing shorter securities settlement periods and system upgrades with industry officials in preparation for broader asset tokenization.
