Killa: Bitcoin Prices Move Ahead of Macroeconomic Changes
Analysis suggests that Bitcoin (BTC) prices often move ahead of macroeconomic changes. Ahead of the upcoming Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, it is argued that market movements should be observed before interest rates and economic indicators. Killa, a Bitcoin-focused quant trader, stated, "Most macroeconomic narratives are just noise," adding that "Bitcoin often starts to move before the causes become clear." He explained that investors frequently interpret the causes after the market has moved. Killa pointed out that many market participants attempt to predict the next movements of assets based on the FOMC, policies, and economic indicators. However, he noted that correlations in the market generally appear late, and by the time publicly available macro indicators explain price changes, significant movements may have already occurred. This statement comes ahead of the September FOMC meeting. The Federal Reserve is set to hold a meeting on the 16th and 17th of Korean time to decide on interest rates and monetary policy direction. The policy decision announcement is scheduled for 3 AM on the 17th Korean time. Killa also mentioned the recent price movements of Bitcoin, analyzing that liquidations of long positions in repetitive volatility phases are weakening leverage and investor sentiment. He concluded that the final downward liquidations could lead to local lows.
