Milk Purchase Prices in Ukraine Continue to Rise
As of September 9, the purchase prices for milk raw materials in Ukraine reached 15.30 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.70 UAH higher than a month ago. The average cost of raw materials by grade is as follows: extra grade — 15.30 UAH/kg (up by 0.70 UAH), highest grade — 15.00 UAH/kg (up by 0.80 UAH), first grade — 14.50 UAH/kg (up by 1 UAH). The weighted average price of all three grades was 15.10 UAH/kg, increasing by 0.75 UAH over the month. Global milk supply is decreasing, and according to Rabobank's forecasts, production in the EU is expected to decline by 1.6% in the fourth quarter compared to last year. In August 2026, the global milk price indicator was 46.8 USD per 100 kg, while in Ukraine at the beginning of September it was 39 USD per 100 kg. It is expected that by the end of September, large batches of extra-grade milk may cost 15.50-16 UAH/kg, and by the end of the year — 17-17.50 UAH/kg. Price growth may be restrained by weak domestic demand and increased imports, especially of cheese from Poland. Additionally, by January 1, 2028, Ukraine must meet EU requirements for animal welfare, which may impact exports.
