The National Bank of Ukraine will update the font design of the new 2000 UAH banknote following allegations of using an unlicensed font. The regulator thanked the designers for their attention to detail and noted that the association of design elements with the work of a Russian citizen is unacceptable. The new font will correspond to the official Cyrillic version of Bickham Script without any authorial variations. The changes will not affect the timeline for the banknote's introduction, which is scheduled for September 4, 2026. The front side will feature a portrait of Ukrainian poet Vasyl Stus, while the reverse side will depict the building of the Philological Faculty of Donetsk National University. The banknote includes over 20 security features and will not increase the amount of money in the economy.
