Numerai Expands Purchase of NMR Worth 4.7 Billion Won

Numerai announced on the 17th that it has purchased $1.2 million (approximately 1.788 billion won) worth of Numeraire (NMR) in the open market. With this purchase, the cumulative amount of NMR bought over the past year has reached a total of $3.2 million (approximately 4.768 billion won). This move aims to strengthen the staking reward structure provided to network participants. Numerai is designed for data scientists to stake NMR on predictive models, rewarding them based on performance and burning tokens in case of underperformance. This 'stake-weighted meta model' has consistently outperformed Numerai's internal benchmark models. Since the first purchase announcement in July 2025, Numerai's ecosystem has rapidly expanded, with the number of active accounts more than doubling in a year. Currently, the assets managed by Numerai amount to approximately $700 million (about 1.043 trillion won), significantly up from $560 million (about 834 billion won) at the end of 2025. This transaction was conducted through Coinbase Institutional using a distributed purchase method to minimize market price impact.
