ORO Reveals $630,000 Cryptocurrency Theft by North Korean Hackers
AI shopping agent developer ORO has disclosed a loss of approximately $630,000 due to a suspected North Korean hacker attack. The attackers sent a spoofed Microsoft Teams link to ORO employees via compromised Telegram accounts, tricking them into installing malicious extensions. After nearly a month of data theft, they stole 147,000 Alpha tokens on July 13. ORO is confident that the attack originated from the North Korean hacker group Sapphire Sleet. ORO acknowledged that due to insufficient hardware wallet support in the Bittensor protocol, they set the owner keys to a software wallet, leading to the keys being compromised. ORO is currently working with exchanges, law enforcement, and Bittensor ecosystem partners to recover the stolen assets, emphasizing that its subnet is operating normally and that other wallets, user data, and validator signing keys have not been affected.
