Quantinuum and Quanta Computer Sign Quantum Hardware Manufacturing Collaboration Agreement
Quantinuum and Quanta Computer have signed a development agreement to expand their quantum computing hardware manufacturing capabilities. The two companies entered into a contract on the 13th to jointly enhance their hardware infrastructure, systems engineering, and manufacturing capabilities. This agreement focuses on establishing a large-scale production base for quantum computing hardware. Quanta Computer announced on August 12, 2025, that it acquired 1,867,840 shares of Quantinuum Series B preferred stock for $50 million. Quantinuum mentioned in its S-1 document that it plans to expand production using a hybrid manufacturing model. This hybrid model manages core design and initial validation in-house while leveraging external partners' capabilities for repetitive production. The performance of quantum computers is determined by various factors, including the number of qubits, qubit connectivity structure, error rates, and gate fidelity. This collaboration is seen as an extension of their existing investment relationship, with the establishment of manufacturing and supply chains expected to play a crucial role in the commercialization of quantum computing. However, details regarding the contract amount, production locations, and specific timelines have not been disclosed.
