Rune Accuses Base of Losing Community Trust, Cobie Promises to Listen to On-Chain Users

On July 18, crypto KOL Rune posted on the X platform questioning the management of Base, stating that it has weakened user trust, leading users to believe that "trusting anything related to Base for more than 24 hours is a mistake," making it difficult to attract new users. In response, Cobie stated that he has taken over the work related to the Base App and Coinbase trading products, but is not responsible for the Base chain. He acknowledged the distance between Coinbase and its users, especially native crypto users, and admitted that some mistakes made by Base and Coinbase have depleted user trust. He hopes to listen more to on-chain users in the future and create products that users are willing to use. Rune later responded that Coinbase's biggest problem is its long-term neglect and even harm to users, with over 10,000 Base users suffering about 99% asset losses due to trusting the management. The management's attitude has exacerbated community dissatisfaction. He believes that Base has the infrastructure to become the best Layer 2 in the crypto industry but lacks a leadership willing to take responsibility for users, emphasizing that the current issue with Base is not just a loss of trust, but that community trust has almost completely eroded.
