Saudi Fund Acquires Electronic Arts for $55 Billion
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, along with an investor consortium, has received EU approval to acquire video game giant Electronic Arts (EA) for $55 billion. EA confirmed that it has obtained all necessary regulatory approvals as of July 30, and the transaction is expected to be completed on August 4. In September 2025, EA announced that it had reached a final agreement with PIF, Silver Lake Partners, and Affinity Partners, with the deal being an all-cash transaction and the enterprise valuation at approximately $55 billion. PIF Vice President Turqi Alnowaiser stated that PIF holds a unique position in the global gaming and esports sector, committed to building an ecosystem that connects players, developers, and IP creators. EA described the transaction as "the largest all-cash privatization acquisition in history," with buyers including the Saudi Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake Partners from the U.S., and Affinity Partners, which was founded by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former President Trump, in 2021 and has received significant funding from Saudi Arabia.
