Streamex Secures $1M Institutional Allocation for GLDY Investment Strategy

Streamex Corp. has secured a $1 million commitment from a leading institutional investor for a relative-value strategy using GLDY, its gold-backed token, as the long position in a delta-neutral gold trade. This strategy, managed by Metalayer Capital through its Aureon Relative Value Fund, aims to generate yield from GLDY, targeted at 3.5% annually through a gold-leasing program. The allocation is significant as it indicates interest in tokenized securities like GLDY from institutional investors, beyond individual accredited investors. Metalayer Capital, founded by former Two Sigma executives, declined to comment on the investment. The strategy pairs GLDY with a short position in gold-linked perpetual futures, making it indifferent to gold price fluctuations. Streamex views this as a new growth channel, with follow-on investments anticipated. The initial $1 million allocation is final, and there is no guarantee of additional GLDY purchases. Metalayer also acts as a liquidity provider for GLDY and can mint and redeem the token directly. GLDY is available only to eligible investors under securities registration exemptions, primarily attracting accredited investors seeking yield.
