Swan Bitcoin CEO: AI bond issuance may support BTC through Treasury strain
Swan Bitcoin CEO Cory Klippsten stated that significant bond issuance by major tech companies for AI infrastructure could support Bitcoin by increasing the U.S. government's Treasury funding burden. Klippsten noted that while AI is not the primary factor behind the current high Treasury yields, fiscal deficits, inflation, economic growth, and Federal Reserve policy have a more substantial impact. He mentioned that the five largest data center operators are expected to issue approximately 220 billion dollars in bonds this year, adding pressure to a market already facing substantial Treasury supply. If government funding costs remain high, policymakers may be incentivized to ease monetary policy or accept higher inflation, which could benefit Bitcoin due to its fixed supply and lack of an issuing entity. Klippsten emphasized that the connection between AI and Bitcoin is rooted in the bond market, rather than AI agents making Bitcoin payments.
