Woori Bank Assesses Limited Impact of NFT Personal Data Breach
Woori Bank has determined that the personal data breach incident that occurred during the construction of its non-fungible token (NFT) platform will have a limited significant impact on the company's financial and operational activities. According to the investment report disclosed on the 17th, Woori Bank included the NFT platform's personal data breach incident in the IT and security-related issues for the past year. In July 2026, the bank recognized that 17,551 pieces of user personal data were leaked due to the negligence of an employee from an external development company and reported it to the authorities. The leaked information included user nicknames and associated information (CI), and Woori Bank stated that passwords and financial transaction information were not leaked. Immediately after recognizing the breach, the bank blocked access to the information through the development company, and no cases of information spread or misuse have been confirmed to date. Accordingly, Woori Bank assessed that the impact on its financial and operational activities is limited. However, it added that continuous checks on the information protection management system of IT outsourcing partners, including external development companies, are necessary.
