3 Stocks Account for 50.4% of August's 665.42 Billion CEX Perpetual Futures Volume
Stock perpetual futures on centralized crypto exchanges reached 665.42 billion dollars in August, with three underlying assets contributing over half of the total volume. This figure represents a 4.6% increase from July's 636.19 billion dollars and is 56.5 times higher than January's 11.58 billion dollars. SanDisk (SNDK) led with 193.58 billion dollars, followed by SK Hynix (SKHYNIX) at 75.89 billion dollars, and the SpaceX-tracking SPCX contract at 65.93 billion dollars. Together, these three stocks accounted for 50.4% of the market. On August 19, SNDK's perpetual volume reached 62.4% of its US spot turnover, the highest recorded, before dropping to 38.0% by August 26. Other equity-linked perpetuals lagged significantly, with Circle (CRCL) at 47.2%, while Nvidia (NVDA) and Meta remained below 3%. Additionally, Binance reported approximately 433.4 billion dollars in traditional finance perpetual volume for August, with equity-linked contracts making up 342.9 billion dollars, or nearly 79%. The exchange is expanding its offerings to include options on over 1,000 US stocks and ETFs for eligible users outside the US. Bybit is also set to launch 24/7 options trading on September 17, featuring SpaceX and Nvidia perpetuals as underlying assets.
