Cardano Explains the Origin of the ADA Name
As Cardano approaches the ninth anniversary of its genesis block created on September 23, 2017, it announced that the name of its ADA token is derived from mathematician Ada Lovelace, who lived between 1815 and 1852. Lovelace is known as one of the first individuals to write a computer program. 1 ADA corresponds to 1 million lovelaces. The Cardano Foundation associates this name choice with an emphasis on mathematics and science. The name Cardano comes from the mathematician Gerolamo Cardano of the Renaissance period. The project's roadmap includes the Byron, Shelley, Goguen, Basho, and Voltaire phases. It was stated that the future roadmap will be shaped by the community and will focus on scalability, usability, utility, interoperability, and expandability. Additionally, the Cardano x402 integration has become available on npm. This integration allows developers to create applications that accept payments in ADA or Cardano's native tokens.
