Cryptocurrency Market Outperforms S&P 500, 88 Leading Tokens Above 200-Day Moving Average
As of September 20, 257 stocks in the S&P 500 have fallen below the 200-day moving average, indicating weak market breadth. In contrast, the cryptocurrency market is performing strongly, with 88 of the top 100 tokens by market capitalization (including BTC and ETH) positioned above the 200-day simple moving average (SMA), and most tokens also above the 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages. Many crypto assets, including BTC, ETH, XRP, and SOL, remain below their historical highs. Dick Lo, founder and CEO of TDX Strategies, stated that institutional funds are continuously flowing in through ETFs, driving major crypto assets and some altcoins to maintain momentum, with the key level for BTC currently at $90,000, and the mid-term target being the 2026 high of $97,900. Bernardo Brites, co-founder and CEO of Trace Finance, pointed out that funds are primarily flowing in through ETFs rather than stablecoins, making the market more susceptible to corrections.
