Fed's Kashkari Emphasizes the Importance of Policy Reaction Mechanism
Federal Reserve's Kashkari stated that clearly communicating the Fed's policy reaction mechanism under different economic scenarios is beneficial for the public and the markets. In an interview with CNBC, he pointed out that continuing to explain the policy reaction mechanism to the market is valuable and called for the Fed to begin a series of small interest rate hikes to curb the current inflation, which is above the Fed's 2% target. Kashkari believes that maintaining the tradition of explaining the policy reaction function to the public allows them to make their own judgments based on this information.
