Glassnode Conducts Investigation Amid Data Leak Concerns, Warns Customers of Phishing Risks
Concerns Over Customer Data Leak at Glassnode
A potential security incident has emerged at Glassnode, a company widely known for on-chain data analysis of cryptocurrencies, where personal data including customer email addresses may have been leaked externally.
The situation came to light following a post on the online community Reddit. A user warned that they received a suspicious phishing email sent to an email address registered exclusively with Glassnode. Given that the email contained a cleverly crafted message targeting specific individuals, suspicions of a customer list leak quickly spread within the cryptocurrency community. Subsequently, the company became aware of the situation and issued a formal notification to its customers.
Official Notification and Security Measures by Glassnode
In an announcement dated July 22, 2026 (Wednesday), Glassnode acknowledged the occurrence of a security incident but stated that the specific number of affected users and the full extent of the leaked data are currently unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
Additionally, the company has called for vigilance against impersonation and phishing attacks disguised as communications from Glassnode, urging users to adhere to the following points:
Verify the Sending Domain: Official emails from the company are sent only from the "glassnode.com" domain.
Be Cautious of Phone Calls: The company does not provide customer support via phone, and any communication by phone is fraudulent.
Ignore Suspicious Messages: Users should refrain from opening links or attachments they do not recognize.
Inquiries can be directed to the official contact (support@glassnode.com), and the company will provide additional instructions and updates as the investigation progresses.
Why Cryptocurrency Users Are Vulnerable Targets
In the cryptocurrency market, the leak of basic information such as email addresses should not be taken lightly.
Even if the cryptocurrencies themselves or wallet passwords are not stolen, attackers who obtain email addresses can launch sophisticated phishing attacks disguised as legitimate services, such as:
- Theft of login credentials (ID and password)
- Requests for wallet seed phrases or private keys
- Distribution of malicious malware
Conclusion: Exercise Caution Even with Limited Data Leaks
This incident illustrates that even a seemingly limited data leak, such as an email address, can lead to serious asset damage when exploited as a stepping stone for targeted phishing attacks. Investors using Glassnode's services are urged to carefully verify the sender of any emails they receive in the future and to enhance their awareness of security measures to protect their assets.
