Jensen Huang Claims CUDA Can Extend NVIDIA GPU Lifespan
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated on the X platform that the rental contract for the NVIDIA A100 GPU will extend until 2029, with expectations that the A100 GPU can continue to handle computing tasks until that year. Huang pointed out that NVIDIA's computing platform relies not only on the chips themselves but also on CUDA, which enables developers and engineers to continuously upgrade and optimize throughout the lifecycle of architectures such as Ampere, Hopper, and Blackwell. He emphasized that CUDA enhances the versatility of NVIDIA's computing power and the interchangeability of computing resources across different generations, thereby improving GPU utilization, extending economic lifespan, and making NVIDIA's computing power a rentable, durable, and financeable productive asset.
