Locus Chain Unveils Demonstration Video of Next-Generation Order Book Decentralized Exchange 'LDEX'
Locus Chain, a next-generation high-performance blockchain platform developed by Bloom Technologies, announced on the 20th that it has released a demonstration video of its next-generation order book-based decentralized exchange platform, 'LDEX'.
The demonstration was conducted in a test environment and implemented key processing steps necessary for order book trading, including order reception and execution, real-time order book reflection, position management, and test asset transfers. The video also included the process of asset movement between the Locus Chain core network and the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) subchain, as well as the integration with the MetaMask wallet.
Recently, the use of decentralized exchanges (DEX) that allow users to trade directly through their wallets without entrusting their assets to exchanges has been rapidly increasing in the cryptocurrency market.
In contrast to traditional brokerage home trading systems (HTS) or mobile trading systems (MTS), and most centralized cryptocurrency exchanges (CEX) that directly hold and process users' assets, DEX does not store users' assets.
In a DEX, users trade while directly connecting their wallets, and the results are verified through the blockchain network. Since exchanges do not hold customer assets, the risks of hacking or asset misappropriation are fundamentally reduced, allowing users to secure ownership and transaction history transparency directly. This is why DEX is gaining attention as a key financial infrastructure in the Web3 era, with a rapidly growing user base.
However, DEX has faced long-standing technical challenges. It is difficult to process numerous orders per second without delay, as CEX does. The existing blockchain's processing speed has not supported this, which is why most DEXs have had to adopt automated market maker (AMM) methods.
The order book records buy and sell orders in real-time and executes them at the most suitable prices, which is a standard used by both domestic and international securities firms and centralized exchanges. The problem lies in the fact that the creation, cancellation, modification, and execution of orders are repeated countless times per second. Implementing this on a blockchain requires extremely high processing performance, which has led even DEXs that have adopted order books to compromise between processing performance and decentralization.
The first case to break this compromise is Hyperliquid. With its fast trading speed based on an order book, it has grown to a scale close to a daily trading volume of 10 trillion won, ranking among the top five global cryptocurrency exchanges by trading volume. It has proven that ultra-fast on-chain trading is indeed possible and has set a new standard for the DEX market.
However, the performance-oriented architecture has left another limitation. The reliance on a single trading engine has weakened decentralization, and operations have become centered around oracles and market makers. Ultimately, the next-generation DEX must meet the challenges of not only speed but also stability, scalability, and true decentralization.
The LDEX unveiled by Locus Chain is a next-generation order book-based DEX solution developed to address this challenge. The order book method involves a structure where tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of orders occur simultaneously per second, making it difficult to avoid processing delays or network congestion on existing blockchains. LDEX solves this not by sacrificing either performance or decentralization, but by enhancing the processing capabilities of the underlying blockchain itself.
The foundation of this is the next-generation public blockchain, Locus Chain. Locus Chain is designed to maintain high performance reliably even in large-scale service environments by combining key technologies such as dynamic sharding, directed acyclic graph (DAG)-based parallel processing, Byzantine fault tolerance (BFT) consensus, and verifiable pruning.
As transaction volumes increase, dynamic sharding dynamically expands the network's processing capabilities, and DAG-based parallel processing handles hundreds of thousands of transactions per second. Additionally, with the addition of multi-layer dynamic sharding capable of validating and processing tens of millions of transactions per second, it has secured the capacity to respond to future large-scale service environments.
The key to maintaining decentralization is verifiable pruning. This technology reduces the amount of data that nodes must store to a level manageable even by mobile devices while maintaining the integrity of transaction verification. This not only significantly reduces storage space and network operating costs but also enables the operation of verification nodes on regular PCs or mobile devices without high-performance servers.
This allows anyone to participate as a verification node, lowering the barriers to network participation and achieving a high level of decentralization that does not rely on specific operational entities. This structure can also be extended to large-scale services across various fields requiring real-time data processing, such as gaming, finance, artificial intelligence (AI), and media.
According to internal performance validation results from the company, LDEX recorded up to three times the order processing capacity and transaction execution speed compared to existing high-performance DEXs. The company explained that it is designed to provide a consistent user experience without performance degradation even in environments with rapidly increasing transaction volumes.
What LDEX aims for is not just a trading platform that excels in speed. By securing not only processing performance but also scalability, decentralization, and security, it provides a next-generation digital asset trading infrastructure that offers both fast trading and trust. Locus Chain plans to build a Web3 financial infrastructure based on this technological capability and set a new standard in the global digital asset trading market.
Locus Chain is using LDEX as a stage to validate the applicability of its blockchain technology in real-time order processing and large-scale trading environments. Based on this, it plans to expand the scope of technology application to industries requiring large-scale data processing, including finance, gaming, real-world asset (RWA), and digital payments.
A representative from Bloom Technologies stated, "LDEX is a project that goes beyond simply implementing the functions of a decentralized trading platform to show how Locus Chain's blockchain technology can be applied to real-time order processing and various industrial services."
He added, "LDEX will combine the convenient user experience of existing exchanges with the transparency and security of decentralization to provide a trustworthy digital asset trading environment for everyone, and we will grow it into a next-generation decentralized trading infrastructure leading the global Web3 financial ecosystem and a world-class standard platform."
