UBS Optimistic About Asian Emerging Market Bonds, Gold Offers Diversification Value
UBS is shifting its asset allocation focus towards Asian emerging market bonds. Adrian Zuercher, Co-Head of Global Asset Allocation at UBS's Chief Investment Office, stated on CNBC that global yields remain high, creating more allocation opportunities in the credit and fixed income markets. Zuercher pointed out that a strong macroeconomic environment supports the performance of emerging market bonds, particularly high-yield bonds in the Asian technology sector, which have outperformed the market in recent months. He believes that the overall quality of high-yield bonds today is better than it was 10 to 15 years ago, and Asian emerging market bonds can provide attractive yields supported by a robust macro environment. UBS is also optimistic about the diversification value of gold, with Zuercher noting that the current environment is favorable for gold, as structural weakness in the dollar supports gold prices. Additionally, UBS believes that broader commodity exposure can help diversify risk, with rising oil prices due to the situation in the Middle East and increased demand for commodities like copper driven by the AI boom.
