Clarification on Saudi HUMAIN M3 Model Based on MiniMax M3 Development
The HUMAIN M3 model released by the Saudi AI company HUMAIN was initially referred to as a "100% Saudi model." However, following scrutiny, the publisher Sultan Alfaifi clarified that the model is developed based on the M3 model from the Chinese AI company MiniMax. Both HUMAIN M3 and MiniMax M3 utilize a mixture of experts architecture, boasting a total of 428 billion parameters and 23 billion active parameters. HUMAIN stated that the model underwent post-training using over 1 trillion Arabic tokens, with a focus on enhancing Arabic language capabilities, local culture, intelligent agents, tool invocation, and computer operation skills. The model achieved an average score of 89.37% across seven Arabic benchmark tests. HUMAIN plans to open the model weights and deploy them on local servers in Saudi Arabia. Max For AI believes that this collaboration indicates that Chinese models are transitioning from providing APIs and products to becoming the technological foundation for other countries to build sovereign AI systems.
