Discrepancies in Tokenized Stock Proportions Ranging from 2.5% to 15%
Tokenized stocks are growing in the real asset market, but their proportion in the overall market varies depending on the aggregation criteria. The Block reported on July 16 that the market capitalization of tokenized stocks reached $13 billion, accounting for about 15% of the total tokenized asset market. In contrast, a report from CoinGecko estimated the size of tokenized stocks at $486.69 million and their proportion at 2.5% as of March 31, 2026. The discrepancy in figures is attributed to differences in whether stablecoins are included and how categories are defined. Andreessen Horowitz mentioned in an analysis on May 22 that the tokenized asset market exceeded $30 billion, explaining that the size of tokenized stocks is about $1.5 billion. Tokenized stocks provide rights or price exposure to stocks or ETFs in a blockchain format, but do not always guarantee shareholder rights and dividend rights. Nasdaq announced its stock token design on March 9, emphasizing issuer control and the preservation of shareholder rights. DTCC has completed tokenized transactions involving 40 companies and expects to launch services in October 2026. On-Chain Finance has launched custodial tokenized securities within U.S. regulations, while Kraken and Binance offer tokenized stocks with 100% and 1:1 collateral, respectively. The industry sees a coexistence of optimism and critical perspectives, and legal rights and accessibility issues are important for domestic investors.
