Prediction Market Trueo Announces Transition to Ethereum, Supported by Vitalik
Key Points of This Article
- No deadline for transition; existing Base market can continue to be used
- Vitalik describes it as "not corposlop"
Announcement of Transition to Ethereum
On the 22nd, the prediction market protocol Trueo announced on a thread on official X (formerly Twitter) that it will transition its operational base from Base (a Coinbase-related Layer 2 network) to the Ethereum (ETH) mainnet. TRUE token holders can transition at their preferred timing, with no deadline set.
Trueo is a fully on-chain prediction market protocol launched on Base in March 2025, allowing users to issue yield-bearing stablecoin TYD backed by USDC, which is used as collateral for binary (YES/NO) prediction markets.
In practical terms for the transition, users are urged to refrain from creating new markets on Base that will expire after January 31, 2027, and are advised to create those new markets on Ethereum after it becomes operational. Creation of new markets expiring before that date will not be affected.
Trading, resolution, and redemption will continue as usual during the transition period, and the yield on the TYD deposited as collateral will continue to accrue. Existing Base markets that reach expiration after the transition will still be accessible through the official app.
Vitalik Expresses Support
In response to this announcement, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin expressed his welcome for the emergence of a new prediction market that emphasizes decentralization and ethics, describing it as "not corposlop" in his X post. He has previously criticized the existing prediction market industry for its tendency to lean towards speculative and gambling-like content, referring to it as "corposlop," and this post can be seen as evaluating Trueo as an antithesis to that.
Since entering 2026, he has frequently commented on the quality of information and the gambling nature of prediction markets, and this post is viewed as an extension of that series of issues raised.
Goals of the Transition and Oracle Concept
Trueo explained that while Base was a suitable environment for experimental applications, Ethereum is optimal for achieving the ultimate goal of a "widely adopted, permissionless, and highly immutable reliable platform."
The company listed securing liquidity in key market categories and developing next-generation oracles (judgment systems) as its top priorities after the transition. It noted that there are still challenges in dispute resolution regarding prediction market judgments and aims to build oracles that yield fair and accurate results.
