SEC Advances 24-Hour Trading for U.S. Stocks
The Chairman of the SEC, Paul S. Atkins, stated that the SEC is advancing preparations to expand 24-hour trading in the U.S. stock market, aiming to allow investors to respond more promptly to market events, increase global market participation, and enhance liquidity. Currently, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has launched a "23×5" trading capture system to support clearing and settlement. The industry has established overnight price ranges and related risk control requirements for trading centers, and the Securities Information Processor (SIP) is also preparing to release overnight price information. Tokenization is expected to help the securities industry achieve real-time inventory management, improve efficiency, reduce settlement failures, and lower the risk of naked short selling.
