US-China Trade Talks Focus on AI Dialogue and Trade Truce Extension

US and Chinese officials held the second round of trade talks in New York on September 22, discussing topics such as artificial intelligence, investment, and trade. Chinese Vice Minister of Finance Liao Min stated that the focus of the talks was on implementing the consensus reached by the chief negotiators of both countries. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng held all-day talks the previous day, agreeing to establish a "US-China AI Dialogue" mechanism to form a consensus on the opportunities and risks of AI. The existing trade truce agreement is set to expire in November, and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer indicated that both sides may extend the truce for an additional 3 to 6 months, with specific terms still under negotiation.
