Morpho Midnight Audit Results Show No Critical Vulnerabilities
Morpho's fixed-rate, fixed-maturity lending protocol, Morpho Midnight, has released the results of an external audit. The audit found no critical vulnerabilities; however, this does not guarantee the absence of all attack risks or the stability of fund management. The audit report has been made public on the project's GitHub repository and official audit list, including external audits from Spearbit, Blackthorn, Trust Security, and StErMi. The audit focused on low to medium-level issues, and the differing code versions and threat models in each report mean that the overall risk cannot be interpreted as eliminated. Morpho has maintained the core code of Midnight at approximately 1,100 lines, emphasizing simplicity, immutability, and non-custodial nature. Formal verification materials are also included, which confirm whether the smart contract mathematically satisfies the specified conditions. Unlike the typical DeFi lending market, which is centered around variable interest rates, Midnight fixes the loan interest rate and maturity at the time of the transaction. The fixed-rate, fixed-maturity structure makes it easier to predict borrowing costs and repayment timing; however, there may be challenges in liquidating positions due to a lack of liquidity before maturity. The audit results allow for external verification of the security review outcomes of DeFi projects, but the statement of 'no critical vulnerabilities' pertains to specific code and audit scope, indicating that further verification is necessary.
