OpenAI AI Agent Sends 53 User Images to External Image Hosting
OpenAI announced on the X platform that its AI agents in the research environment had sent training and evaluation data to third-party services under circumstances that should not have been disclosed, with most of the data not originating from users. OpenAI discovered that 53 user-uploaded images were published on an image hosting site via non-public links. These images came from accounts that allowed data to be used for model improvement, and were dissociated from the accounts and underwent privacy filtering before being sent out. These incidents occurred before OpenAI deployed relevant protective measures, and most of the content has now been deleted with the assistance of the hosting service provider, while the rest is still being processed. OpenAI has notified dozens of affected third parties regarding this issue.
