Bitcoin struggles below 62000, analysts predict temporary disconnect from stocks
Bitcoin's price is currently just below 62000, down over 50% from its peak in October, despite record highs in U.S. equities. Analysts from Hashdex and Charles Schwab suggest this disconnect is temporary. Hashdex's CIO Samir Kerbage noted that current capital flows are directed towards AI and macro positioning rather than crypto, although structural developments in the crypto ecosystem continue to strengthen its long-term investment case. He highlighted that stablecoin transaction volume in the first half of the year has already exceeded all of 2025, and tokenized real-world assets have grown over 60% year to date. Kerbage believes the gap between market capitalization and on-chain activity is unlikely to persist. Charles Schwab's Jim Ferraioli examined bitcoin's historical cycles, stating that bitcoin typically takes over a year after bear market bottoms to reclaim levels above production costs, estimated at around 95000. He noted that the average investor's cost basis is near 80000, which could create selling pressure. Ferraioli acknowledged the 'bitcoin halving cycle' as a feature of bitcoin, though he cautioned that its impact may diminish as the asset matures.
