Investor Moves 90 Bitcoins Dormant Since 2011, Turning $293 into $7.2 Million
An anonymous investor moved 90 bitcoins on October 3rd, which had been dormant in three addresses since 2011. At the time of the transaction, the 90 bitcoins were worth about $293, but they are currently valued at $7,200,000, representing a 2,500,000% increase over 15 years. The transactions include two transfers of 40 bitcoins and one of 10 bitcoins. The bitcoins were acquired between October and November 2011 and moved on the same day. The addresses involved are: 1HAzM7RoYng2Jfq6CxpNzh6QXTKnzxwSLU, 16RFb34zPWewVgfrBsRPmP7CzSzhBPuSC, and 1AQWrGKnFTHrp1UBRPAk5YpXTvy93xgTfv. The bitcoins were transferred to 'native SegWit' addresses, starting with 'bc1q', where they currently remain. This suggests that the investor did not transfer the funds to an exchange, possibly just migrating to a new wallet. Similar movements have occurred, such as the transfer of 205 bitcoins dormant since 2010 and 2011 in August and 175 bitcoins that had been inactive for over 15 years in July. These early Bitcoin investors may have only a fraction of their fortunes represented by these wallets.
