Metaplanet faces shareholder backlash over executive stock options
Metaplanet is facing shareholder pushback regarding its 10th executive stock option plan, which allocates 20% of fully diluted shares to management. The plan allows for an increase in options if the company issues new shares to fund Bitcoin purchases, raising concerns among shareholders about potential dilution of existing holdings. Shareholders are calling for the cancellation of options linked to 273 million newly added shares and demand greater transparency in decision-making processes. In defense, Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey stated that a compensation plan granting management a 20% fully diluted stake over five years is within normal practice. However, criticism persists regarding the scale of executive compensation and the risk of share dilution.
