OKX Star Points Out THORChain TSS + Validator Model Lacks Decentralization

By: x.com|09/27/2026 00:45:02

OKX Star responded to THORChain on X, stating that its TSS + validator model does not represent true decentralization. THORChain's validators jointly control the underlying assets in the TSS treasury, and funds can be moved once the signature threshold is reached. Therefore, from a custodial perspective, it cannot be compared to the underlying consensus mechanisms of Bitcoin and Ethereum, effectively acting as an intermediary between users and the native chain. OKX Star pointed out that while TSS distributes control among multiple participants, the existence of intermediaries has not disappeared. Previously, THORChain responded to discussions regarding the transfer of some stolen funds from Bitget, claiming that it is decentralized and permissionless like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB Chain, and questioned what responsibility these networks should bear if stolen funds flow through them.
